The Great Pacific Garbage Patch – a dead zone the size of Texas filled with garbage ranging from plastic bags to microscopic pieces of polyester.
Unfortunately
We’ve all contributed. No matter how far from the ocean you live, wind, runoff, sewers, and rivers make sure your candy wrapper reaches the ocean. Anywhere along this journey it’s available to wildlife that will mistake it for food which can lead to death. It’s one of the very important reasons why minimizing your waste production and sorting your waste responsibly is so important.
Fortunately!
You can do something about it. As an individual you can’t collect all the waste on our shores, but you can stop contributing to it. Refusing, reducing, reusing, and recycling may appear like a local movement but its impact, both positive and negative, have a global reach. No piece of material is too small to put in the correct bin. Remember you have the power to make a change.
Knowledge is power which is why you should watch this great video! It sums up the situation quite nicely.
