Peter
Meet Peter, our awesome team leader and a great advocator for environmental sustainability.
“The issue of sustainability is complex and ever-changing, and Green Chair tackles that issue by empowering people to enact change from the bottom-up, which is vital to any sustainability effort. “Every little bit helps, forever.” is the mentality possessed by everyone here at Green Chair. Thus, no matter how insignificant the item might seem in the grand scheme of things, we do our best to make sure that it is recycled and does not end up in the landfill.
Personally, I am proud to be affiliated with the green and environmental community through the portal of Green Chair because I enjoy making genuine and substantial efforts to promote sustainability through the smallest interactions with people. I am a firm believer that public engagement lies at the heart of the challenge of climate change and that is what I think is the best facet of Green Chair. At Green Chair, I not only get to demonstrate, on the forefront, the benefits and importance of recycling and leading a green, sustainable lifestyle, I also have the opportunity to participate in a social movement that aims to contribute to the betterment of society.
The values and the pragmatic approach to sustainability that this company adds to my personal life and all the lives it touches on are truly inspiring and transformative. Thank you, Green Chair.”
Sophie
Sophie has been an active member of our Green Chair team and she comes across as a passionate sustainability advocate. Here is what she has to say about it.
“Studying environment and sustainability at UBC while being a member of Green Chair Recycling has proved to be an immeasurable experience. As it is becoming increasingly important for sustainable and environmentally conscious thought to be a underlying basis for continuing and future progression, the advocacy of/through collective action serves as a viable foundation for positive communities and social systems. Through Green Chair, the promotion of waste reduction, recycling, and responsible citizenship increases exponentially through the ripple effects and feedback we produce. Working with Green Chair provides not only an invaluable experience (creating both tangible and intangible effects on the community), it is intrinsically rewarding to positively contribute to individual actors as well as collective communities and organizations”
Ian
Ian has been a Green Warrior with Green Chair since the spring and has participated at various events this past season around the lower mainland.
“I had a blast this past event season helping out at the various events around the Lower mainland. I’ve always recycled and been conscious of my footprint so it was really easy to get going with Green Chair and help make these community events a lot less wasteful. It was great working with an energetic team that enjoyed being out, answering questions, and helping the community. I especially enjoyed being able to run around outside recycling for entire weekends at events with other people who wanted to do the same.”
